Accessibility Statement

Using this website

This website is run by Alvington Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigage most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible is this website?

We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:

  • Not all PDFs are in an accessible format. By March 2021 we aim to amend any key PDF documents to make them accessible, as well as making all new PDFs accessible from the start.
  • While it’s not needed to navigate the site, the current header format (which appears at the top of every page) may cause some confusion to screen readers and prove unhelpful to those relying on text-to-speech tools. We intend to fix this by March 2021.
  • Any PDFs which were created from a scan will of course not work with text-to-speech so we will be looking to add accessible versions wherever possible, by March 2021.

What to do if you can’t access parts of this website
